The three researchers—Carleen Maitland, assistant professor and principal investigator; Andrea Tapia, also an assistant professor; and John Yen, University Professor of Information Sciences and Technology—will be working with the non-profit International Working Group for Emergency Capacity Building. That group, organized to facilitate coordination of information and communication technologies (ICTs) among relief agencies, has representatives such as Save the Children, CARE and Oxfam. Benita Beamon, a researcher with the University of Washington’s Interdisciplinary Program on Humanitarian Relief, will be studying the supply chains of relief organizations.
